Code aliases
We have just added to Digi3D.NET a functionality that can help operators who are used to one encoding to work and progressively learn with another encoding: Code Alias. Basically it consists in that we can add (optionally) to a code a series of codes that will act as aliases, so that if for example the operator is used to using the code 020400 for contour lines director and starts with a new job that requires a new encoding in which the contour line director is for example ABCDEFG, we can add to the ABCDEFG code as alias the code 020400. The operator may have created macro instruction files or key mappings that call COD=020400. Digi3D.NET will check that there is a code that has an alias with that code and will automatically select the code ABCDEFG. In practice, the operator will see in the code drop-down the code ABCDEFG (which he possibly did not know), but has selected it using the code he did know. To add code aliases to a code follow these steps:
- Run the program Code tables editor.
- Select the menu option File/Open and load the file to be modified.
- Select the Codes tab.
- Locate the code to which you want to add an alias.
- In the section Codes, find the value of Aliases and add the alias. You can add as many aliases as you want, if you put more than one, you will have to separate them by commas.
- Press the OK button of the program Code table editor and save the changes.
