Tip: Make .bin the default file format in Digi3D.NET instead of .bind
The drawing file format .bind incorporated in Digi3D.NET has many advantages over the classic .bin such as:
- Identification within the archive of the Coordinates of the entities.
- Double precision in coordinates.
- Native system for multi-coding.
- Supports third-party entity types.
- Versionable.
The problem is that there is still a lot of user base using old versions of the program that do not recognize this format.
By default Digi3D.NET displays .bind files in dialogs that request drawing files, and this can be a nuisance if we collaborate with users of earlier versions, as we have to change the file type in the drop-down dialogs.
Digi3D.NET has a trick that will allow us to change the order of the files by default, and will allow us to make the default format is the .bin format.
The trick will involve touching the record, but as long as you do it carefully, you are not going to encounter any problems.
When you run Digi3D.NET, it starts loading extensions in the initialization process.
How does Digi3D.NET know the name of the extensions it should load?
There are several families of extensions, one of which is the drawing file importer/exporter extensions. If they are drawing file importer/exporter extensions, extract the names of the extensions to load from the sub-keys of the registry calve:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Digi21\Digi3D.NETBeta2016\DigiNG\IO
Each of the sub-keys of this key represents a drawing file importer extension.
Among them are the keys:
- Digi21.Io.BinDouble
- Digi21.Io.Bin
As you can imagine, the first represents the .bind file importer and the second the .bin file importer.
Well, all these keys have a value named Order.
By default the value of Order for Digi21.Io.BinDouble is 0, and the value of Order for Digi21.Io.Bin is 1.
The trick is to change these values, and make the Order value for Digi21.Io.BinDouble to be 1 and for Digi21.Io.Bin to be 0.
