Tip: Make Digi3D.NET use less memory and start faster

When you install Digi3D.NET on your computer, the installer activates the 100% of its functionality by activating all available extensions. This causes the program to load many DLLs that you may never have used and that you will never use. This affects the application's loading time and memory consumption. Fortunately, we can disable the components that we do not use and configure the program to our taste to make it load faster and consume less memory. Digi3D.NET at startup searches in the Windows registry the extensions to load and loads all those that are enabled. Let’s look at the different extension families available and how we can indicate in the registry that a particular extension is not loaded.

Extensions for the photogrammetric window:

When you load the Digi3D module, it starts loading extensions, and its extensions are the different sensors, some sensors in turn may have their own extensions. Let's see in the following table the location of each of these extensions:

The Conical and Satellite sensors have their own extensions, which are the extensions responsible for importing orientations from different file formats. Let’s look at the location of the conical sensor extensions:

DigiNG has two extension families:

• Commands providers.
• Importers/exporters of drawing files.

How to disable loading of an extension?

All the keys listed in the previous tables have a value named Activated. If this value has assigned a 0 the particular extension is not loaded, so to make Digi3D.NET not load the VM Quasi Panoramic sensor, all we have to do is assign the value 0 to the value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Digi21\Digi3D.NET\Digi3D\Extensiones\Digi3D.VMQuasiPanoramic\Activated.
