Tip: Remove a drawing window command in Digi3D.NET

January 25, 2016 tips xml commands

In Digi3D.NET we can override commands so that they can not be used.Today I will explain how to remove commands from the drawing window. The reasons can be various: perhaps we are doing a job in which we do not want to be able to execute the command COMPRESS, perhaps we want to override EXIT, or any reason. Digi3D.NET does not implement the commands you run every day, but these are implemented in different extensions.Below I show you the extensions that installs the installer of Digi3D.NET and the type of commands that implements each extension:

Extension Types of commands
DigiNG.Order Standard usual commands like LINE, ARC, COMPRESS, etc.
DigiNG.Order Base Data commands related to databases.
DigiNG.OrdersMDT commands related to Digital Terrain Models.
DigiNG.Order Raster commands related to images.
DigiNG.Topology of Orders commands related to topology.

Most of the commands you know are implemented in the extension DigiNG.OrdenesStandard. You can see where the commands are implemented in the help, because the reference of each command shows at the end in a table that indicates the extension in which that particular command is implemented (in the video at the end of this entry I show it). Well, because all these extensions publish the names of the commands in a .XML file that you can find in %ProgramFiles%\Digi21.net\Digi3D.NET\es-ES. The last folder is called en-US because it's where the Spanish stuff is. You'll notice that there is also a folder called en-US. There you have the same files as in the es-ES, but all the content you find in that folder is for the English language. In that folder you will find some files that are named the same as the extensions listed in the table above with extension .xml. If you open one of them with your favorite text editor, you will find all the commands implemented by the extension. Now we only have to comment or delete the node that represents the command that we want to delete, for this we have to look for the following: name="order" For example: name="exit" Our editor will take us to the XML node where the command is published. We can do two things: either remove the node completely or comment it using an XML comment. In the video below I show you how to do it.
