All Python functionality rewritten from scratch in Digi3D.NET 2023

March 2, 2023

In Digi3D.NET we have rewritten from 0 everything related to Python.

We have switched from using the IronPython engine to using CPython, thanks to which we can program in version 3.10 of the language and also use the libraries that we have installed with PIP INSTALL on our computer.

In addition, we have changed the object model. Previously, when using the IronPython engine, what was done was to publish the .NET object model of Digi3D in the Python world, so that the names of classes, methods, etc. adopted the recommendations of .NET languages and not the Python language, i.e.: The object model was not "pythonic".

Now the Python object model of Digi3D.NET has nothing to do with the .NET object model.

This new object model also allows you to create interactive commands: commands that wait for the user to press a button, a key, etc.

In addition, we have modified the user interface: We have removed the Interactive Python pane and now we have the Python Script pane. Thanks to this pane, we can now see the source code in color, as well as being able to load, save and run the script from the pane itself.

We have modified the source code of the scripts we had in the ComandosDigi3DPython repository and moreover , to present all this to the world , we 've created the first interactive Digi3D.NET command programmed in Python : draw_text_extracted_street_cadastro that you can see in the following video:
