Oblique reference plane

January 13, 2018 drone drones oblique terrestrial

We present a novelty in Digi3D.NET that will make our work much easier if we work with oblique or terrestrial models. Until now, if we worked with terrestrial models, we had to change the coordinate system (usually swapping the Y coordinates for the Z), to make the Z movement of the input device correspond to the movement the operator expects to see when changing the Z coordinate of the input device. This operation is nothing trivial if we work with oblique shots obtained with drones. We have made a modification in Digi3D that allows changing the comparison plane to make it tangent to the plane defined by the left image of the model, so if it is activated we will solve this problem. We can activate and deactivate this option by means of the menu option photogrammetric window/Compare plane/Oblique. If we activate it, it is stored in the computer settings, so it will always be active until we deactivate it. When you activate it, you will see that moving the Z coordinate of the input device the program will also move the X and Y coordinates, because now when we move in Z we will be moving along the line that connects the projection center of the left image with the center of the image, so be careful not to keep it activated with aerial photogrammetry models.Activate it only if you work with oblique photogrammetry. You can see this new feature in action in the video below:
