Macro instructions in the code table file
Years ago (year 2011) we made a first step to be able to remove the Macroinstructions files (commonly called arrobas) from the table directory: when we modified the format of the key mapping table to allow assigning more than one command to a keystroke. Today we introduce a new step to get rid of these files: We have added the possibility to create Macroinstructions within the code table Digi.tab.xml. You can create them manually in the new tab Macroinstructions or you can import all the macro instructions files you have in a directory using the menu option Macro instructions/Import macro instructions from a directory... in the program Code table editor of Digi3D.NET. If you load in Digi3D.NET a code table that has Macroinstructions, when you try to execute a macroinstruction (remember that they are commands whose names always begin with @), the program tries to locate the definition of the macroinstruction in the code table, if it cannot find it, it will try to locate it as an external file in the table directory, so that backward compatibility has not been lost, but priority is given to the new functionality. With this we get to have three files to copy in case we have to change computer:
- Code table file.
- Key configuration file.
- Menu file (if you have one).
Instead of these three files plus any macro instructions files you had in your table directory. The next step in that unification will be to have the menu file incorporated into the code table. You can see in the following video this new functionality:
