Intelligent detection of attribute errors in Digi3D.NET

September 22, 2016 Quality control attribute database

Digi3D.NET allows you to add intelligence when parsing database attributes so that incompatible conditions can be detected. This intelligence can be added to the code table by means of a trigger that is triggered at the time of storing an entity. The trigger will analyze all restrictions and inform Digi3D.NET that the entity cannot be stored because if any attribute or combination of attributes does not meet the criteria. In case the trigger reports any incompatibility, Digi3D.NET will show the user a dialog box that on the one hand will display an error message (provided by the trigger) and on the other hand will allow the user to correct the problem by modifying the values of the attributes to be stored in the database. This intelligence can be based solely on attributes or take into account the peculiarities of the geometry being attempted to store or even of all existing geometries in the drawing file. For example, it could be detected as an attribute error without taking into account the geometry that is trying to store the case that a building is of Type religious but in type of religion is indicated unknown. An attribute error considering the geometry that is being attempted to store could be the case of the attribute Country in an entity of type Road. If the geometry is in one coordinate range it can be considered that the geometry is in Spain and if it is in another coordinate range it can be considered that it is in France. If we digitize an entity whose coordinates are supposedly in Spain and the attribute indicates that it is in France, it can be reported to the user as an attribution error. An attribution error that takes into account the geometry that is being attempted to store and the geometries already existing in the drawing file could be the case of the Type attribute of a Installation polygon. If the type is military and inside we find a sports track whose area exceeds a 80% of the installation polygon it must be indicated that the Type attribute must be Sports. The possibilities are endless. In the following video you can see these examples in action. If you want to do it yourself, you can download the code table with the added intelligence, the database and the drawing file from the following link: AdvancedBBDDAttributeControl.zip. You must use the 32-bit version to connect to the database, as it is Access and due to limitations imposed by Microsoft, a 64-bit program cannot connect to an Access database. To connect to the database, in the Drawing file tab of the New project dialog box, you must specify in Data model (in the Import/export engine section for double-precision binary files) the option CATDBS and in Connection string you must press the three-dot button. This will bring up the common dialog box Data link properties. Select Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider (which is the provider that provides connections with Access databases) and then press the Next button. In the Connection tab press the three-dot button on "Select or enter the name of a database". The common dialog box "Select Access database" will appear. Locate the database and press Open. Accept the dialog box and you have already configured Digi3D.NET to connect to the database when you open the drawing file.
