Automatic lane detection on a road surveyed with MMS

We present a functionality added to the MMS module of MDTopX: Generation of transverses from the horizontal lines found on a road. All completely automatically, without the need to digitize points. Starting from unclassified LAS files, the following products are obtained:

  • Soil detection (which detects the soil of the road and surrounding areas) This tool changes the classification of points in the .LAS.
  • Asphalt detection (which includes detection of both the platform and horizontal lines painted on the asphalt). This tool changes the classification of the .LAS points.
  • Generation of vector files with boundaries, axes of paint lines etc.

The total process is about 20 minutes for a file of 20 million points. You can see this new functionality in the following video:
