Loading Aerotri .ori.xml aerial triangulations with camera self-calibration and different coordinate systems in Digi3D 2011

November 11, 2011 2011 AEROTRI aerial triangulation self-calibration new_feature

The latest versions of Aerotri generate an .ori.xml file as the result of the aerial triangulation calculation. This file contains the orientations of all the photos that are part of the aerial triangulation project, as well as the path to an auto-calibration file (if we have instructed the program to calculate new distortion parameters together with the aerial triangulation) and finally information regarding the coordinate system in which the aerial triangulation calculation has been performed. Digi3D 2011 natively loads the .ori.xml files generated with Aerotri so that it is no longer necessary to import the aerial triangulation and generate .rel and .abs files as in previous versions. We just have to indicate to Digi3D in the Photogrammetric sensors tab of the New project dialog box the path to the aerial triangulation file, and Digi3D 2011 takes care of locating the orientations and loading the model correctly, all in a transparent way for the user. If in addition to calculating the aerial triangulation we tell Aerotri to calculate an auto-calibration of the camera, Digi3D 2011 will load this auto-calibration and apply it to correct the distortions detected in the camera with the points measured in the aerial triangulation, all in a transparent way for the user. This auto-calibration file does not replace the one used when measuring the aerial triangulation (for example a .cam file with a series of radio-distortion values), but will complement this initial calibration. Aerotri allows you to calculate aerial triangulations in different coordinate systems. Digi3D 2011 detects the coordinate system in which the aerial triangulation calculation was performed in a transparent way for the user. Importing an aero triangulation model has never been easier!
