Changes to the Digi3D.NET licensing system

We have improved the licensing system of Digi3D.NET. Thanks to the new licensing system you can, among other things:

• Control the expiration date of the warranty of your licenses.
• Automation of the rental process.
• Move your software license from one computer to another.
• Decouple network licenses.
• Display of key information.
• Signing drawing files.
• Pay rent to a third party and make sure they only work for you.

Effectiveness of these changes

The changes we list below will be effective from the day 1 October 2014, so that all versions of Digi3D.NET published after that date will run only with the new licensing system. To be able to use this new licensing system we will have to update your dongle, the process is fast and secure. We will need you to have the Invoice for purchase of the program/upgrade/key for rentals and to send us an email to info@digi21.net to start the upgrade process.

Control the warranty expiration date of your licenses

Below we explain which versions of Digi3D.NET you can run depending on whether you own a license of Digi3D.NET (in which case the warranty expiration date is taken into account) or whether you are renting the program. Licenses purchased When you purchase a license of Digi3D.NET (or when you upgrade to Digi3D.NET from a previous version), you are licensed to use the program lifetime, but you do not have lifetime access to technical support or access to new versions. As you know, Digi3D has had several versions: Digi3D 2002, Digi3D 2003, Digi3D 2005, Digi3D 2007, and Digi3D.NET. If you had purchased Digi3D 2002, you could not use Digi3D 2003 unless you upgraded. In Digi3D.NET we do not have a version number, the program will always be called Digi3D.NET. What we do have is the date of publication of each of the versions. If you purchase a Digi3D.NET license on 10/09/2014, you are entitled to use the license you purchased permanently for versions of Digi3D.NET released before 10/09/2016. If on day 11/09/2016 we release a version of Digi3D.NET and you try to run it, you will not be able to because your warranty period has expired, therefore, you will need to store in a safe place a copy of the version of Digi3D.NET released before the expiration date of your warranty period.Don't worry because we will take care of sending you an email inviting you to purchase an update or store the installer of the version on the server. The warranty periods are as follows:

** Rentals ** When renting Digi3D.NET you can always use the latest version. If you have purchased a version of Digi3D.NET and your technical support period has already ended, but you need to use a functionality that we have released after your maximum technical support date and do not want to update the license annually, you can always rent the program for a few days. Once rented, you can install the latest version. When the rental period ends, you will have to reinstall a version of Digi3D.NET published before your warranty expiration date.

Automation of the rental process

We’ve automated the rental process, so at the time of checkout you can already use the feature you paid for.

Move your software license from one computer to another

You can move your software license to another computer for example to work from home on weekends. Software licenses can only be activated on one computer, and only if the activation has expired. When you activate a dongle on a computer, you can specify the latest date until which you want to activate that license on that computer. If you know that you will be working at home from 13/09/2014 at 10:00 AM until 14/09/2014 at 18:00, you must make sure the dongle on your office computer is active until no later than 13/09/2014 at 09:59. Otherwise, you will not be able to activate the dongle on your home computer.

Decoupling Network Licenses

If you have a network license with multiple seats, you can disconnect the licenses you are interested in from the network and lend them to users who need to leave the office. When they return to the office, the licenses will be returned to the server. Don't worry about theft, you can always impose a maximum loan date so that once that date expires, if the license has not been returned, it will disappear from the user who disconnected it and will automatically reappear on the network server.

Displaying key information

Now programs display in the About dialog box... information such as the owner of the dongle, your phone, your email, expiration date of the warranty periods of each of the products, maximum date of use of the program on the computer on which the program is running...

Signing drawing files

Drawing files (regardless of their extension) can be digitally signed with the dongle. If any modification of the drawing file is made by a third party, the signature will no longer be valid. Thanks to this you can guarantee the integrity of the information you have provided.

Pay a rent to a third party and make sure they only work for you

If you pay a rental of Digi3D.NET for a collaborating company or a freelancer, you can ensure that it only works for you, as you can indicate an encryption key to add to the license file, so that the drawing files generated will be encrypted and only you who knows the encryption key can decrypt them using a tool.
